First Workshop

Yesterday Karen and I held our first workshop, we made a drawer containing 4 cards. The workshop went well with everyone enjoying themselves, lots of laughter and fun had by all. We even had to contend with a power cut, which did make things slightly more difficult, so we only managed to complete 3 of the 4 cards. However, we sent our lovely ladies away with instructions on how to finish the last card. Karen will be
e-mailing written instructions and dimensions for the drawer to all who came to the workshop over the next few days.

We used grunge paper, distress inks, paint, punches, stickles, stamps and much much more. Karen demonstrated the techniques used so everyone could see what to do.
We even found time to eat home made cheese scones in the morning and yummy Victoria sponge in the afternoon.

Next months workshop is Gift Bags and Boxes. If you wish to take part or would like more information please contact myself  through this blog or Karen at http://www.craftbuddiespapercrafts.co.uk/

Easter Theme

These are cards I designed for a class at a local garden centre and an egg holder I learnt to make a few years ago year, unfortunately due to communications between the staff  it did not run, but I enjoyed designing and making the class. I used Martha Stewart punches and distress inks. The stamps are from Stampin Up.
It was the first time I had made a twisted easel card.

The daisy card could be used for many different occasions not just Easter.

For the egg holder I even managed to find co-ordinating eggs (good old Sainsbury's).

Tri fold card.

I wanted to use some of my scraps, so I have made this mans card, I cannot decide whether to make it into a Father's day card or a Birthday card. The hands move on the clock so it could be used as a birthday card with the time showing the time of birth.

My favourite papers are Basic Grey, I still have lots to use up (and lots that I just look at and stroke) The tags have brads and gems on. When I add the greeting I will put it on either the front or back panel.

Step Card

I really enjoyed making this step card,I started with an A6 card and folded the steps in. The papers I used are from the Dovecraft Fantasy range, I know they are old papers now, but they were perfect for what I wanted, I have made a similar card using these papers before and my sister loved her card.

I added glossy accents to the fairy and some of the swirls, I wanted to add a bit of glitz but even stickles looked too heavy so I just used gold mirri card.

I inked the edges using distress inks then
I stamped extra swirls to the dream big vellum and finished the card with ribbon.

Weekend Projects

This accordian book is a challege Sylvia set for the weekend, we used three 8x8 card squares and then made a chipboard cover. Over the weekend the challenge was to decorate the book any way we wanted. I used distress inks, butterflies and doilies from the dinner table.

I wanted to make my butterflies float so I attached them to acetate which I recycled from a card box. I added some Basic Gray paper to journal on when I fill the book with photos.

This is the class Karen taught, She has all the papers and embellishments over at http://www.craftbuddiespapercrafts.co.uk/

We all enjoyed this class, I think it shows off my Grandma beautifully. The spray of flowers used were gorgeous. The page uses lots of different techniques which all tie in together.

I also made 15 thank you cards for a friend, I love the Martha Stewart punches especially this doily one.

I made this gift bag from a 12x12 double sided Basic Gray paper, I'm really pleased with how well it came together.

Then I remembered I needed two birthday cards. I still have to add happy birthday and a key to the 18 one and a touch more glitter to the 16.

Weekend of Crafting

On Friday 11th March myself and 10 crafty minded people descended on Pleasaunce Hotel, Overstrand, for a wonderful relaxing weekend, with a hint of crafting! The food was fantastic as was the setting.

Once settled in we began to make our projects, scrapbook pages, cards, altered art and much more.Karen ran a scrapbook page class while Sylvia set many challenges. It all made for an excellent weekend with lots of laughter and fun.

So many thanks Sylvia for organising a wonderful weekend, it was over all to quickly.

21st Birthday Card.

I made this card today for my neighbour's 21st. The 2 and 1 are on separate pieces of card and held together with three brads. I used stencils to draw the numbers, which I bought for 50p, then cut and inked round the edges. The paper I used is from K&Company. The words are a rub-on I found in my stash. I finished the card by adding gems to the numbers and 3d glaze to the leaves.

Wedding Planner.

I made this Wedding Planner for a friend, the idea was to make a book that could help with the planning of a wedding but also be used as a keepsake after the wedding. The book is A5 size. I used my cricut with the wedding cartridge and my bind it all. All the gold is vinyl which the cricut cuts very easily. I used antique linen distress ink on all the pages and the BIA wires are gold.

I made pages with pockets, to keep reciepts, swatches of material, wedding invites, menus, etc and included plain pages for notes, which can be torn out if the book is to be used as a keepsake. I also included some A5 plastic pockets which will keep things safe.

I left the tabs blank so she could add her own headings. I made the tabs using two circle punches and inked them up.

The front and back inside cover are a matching gold colour. Normally I would use the wedding colours when making a book like this but as my friend had not settled on any colours I chose to use the gold theme.

Vintage Suitcase

This is what I have been working on today, I love all things vintage. It has turned out just how I wanted it to. The finished suitcase is 4"x3"x1.5", so it could  be used it as a gift box. I'm going to keep this safe and use it for Mother-in-laws birthday present.

Yesterday while I was out and about I saw a case like this in a shop window, it reminds me of the Tim Holtz Vagabond, I thought I can make that! Believe it or not I worked out the dimensions I wanted to use while I was at work, don't tell the boss, so once I got home I made the pattern up in scrap card to make sure everything would go together o'kay.

I used bazzill light brown and dark brown card, the ink I used is Walnut Stain distress ink, I put it on every edge I could. The diecuts come from Craftwork Cards, not sure where the roses came from but I coloured them with distress inks as they were to bright.

I wonder if I made a larger Vintage Suitcase I could eventually replace it with the Vagabond and say I have had it ages, just a thought!
